Land stewardship and conservation planning are the working vocabulary of Noah Tyler of Excelsior, Minnesota, whose career is in environmental consulting and natural resource management.

That expertise began at the University of Minnesota, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science in the early 1990s, and where field research put him into forests, wetlands, and prairies he still returns to.

Photography predates all of it. A used 35mm film camera from a family member set him loose on western Minnesota lakes and towns as a teenager, and the habit held through the switch to digital. He shoots Lake Minnetonka, Excelsior Bay, wildlife, autumn color, and historic buildings in natural light, with a wide-angle lens for open scenes and a telephoto for wildlife. He photographs for the people who live here, on the belief a place looks better once someone shows it back to you.
